ุจูุณูู ู ุงูููู ุงูุฑููุญูู ูฐูู ุงูุฑููุญูููู ู
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Everything you own is a trust. Your home, your car, your savings, your business โ none of it is truly yours. It is amanah from Allah, placed in your care for a period of time. And just as you would take care of anything entrusted to you by someone you love, protecting what Allah has given you is both a practical responsibility and an act of worship.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught specific habits for protecting your home, your household, and your belongings โ not through superstition or amulets, but through the remembrance of Allah and the Quranic practices that invite His protection into every space you occupy.
The Dua
When entering your home:
ุจูุณูู ู ุงูููููู ููููุฌูููุง ููุจูุณูู ู ุงูููููู ุฎูุฑูุฌูููุง ููุนูููู ุงูููููู ุฑูุจููููุง ุชููููููููููุง
Bismillahi walajna wa bismillahi kharajna wa 'ala Allahi rabbina tawakkalna.
"In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon Allah our Lord we place our trust." โ (Sunan Abu Dawud 5096)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that when a man enters his home and mentions Allah's name upon entering and eating, Shaytan says: "You have no place to spend the night and no dinner." This is both spiritual protection for the home's spiritual environment and a declaration of tawakkul over its physical safety.
For comprehensive protection of the home:
ุงูููููู ููุง ุฅููููฐูู ุฅููููุง ูููู ุงููุญูููู ุงููููููููู ู ููุง ุชูุฃูุฎูุฐููู ุณูููุฉู ููููุง ููููู ู
"Allah โ there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep..." โ Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi in the evening will have protection until morning, and whoever recites it in the morning will have protection until evening (Ibn Hibban 794).
When leaving your home and property unattended:
ุจูุณูู ู ุงูููููู ุชููููููููุชู ุนูููู ุงูููููู ููููุง ุญููููู ููููุง ูููููุฉู ุฅููููุง ุจูุงูููููู
Bismillahi tawakkaltu 'ala Allahi wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
"In the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah." โ (Sunan Abu Dawud 5095)
The Story Behind It
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that reciting Surah Al-Baqarah in the home drives Shaytan away: "Recite Surah Al-Baqarah in your homes, for Shaytan does not enter a home in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited" (Sahih Muslim 780).
This teaching encompasses more than physical security โ it speaks to the entire spiritual environment of a home. A home where the Quran is recited, where Bismillah is said on entering and leaving, where the family gathers for dhikr and prayer, is a home that is spiritually fortified. The protection is not merely against theft โ it is against the spiritual erosion that happens when a household stops remembering Allah.
There is also a well-known narration about the remarkable protection of a companion who discovered a thief in his house. The thief taught him Ayat al-Kursi, promising that reciting it before sleeping would protect him through the night. When the companion told the Prophet (peace be upon him), he confirmed: "He told you the truth, though he is a liar โ that was Shaytan" (Sahih al-Bukhari 5010). Even an adversary acknowledged the power of Ayat al-Kursi for protection.
How to Make This Dua Part of Your Daily Life
Protection of property through dua is not a one-time request โ it is a daily practice embedded in your comings and goings.
Morning habit: Recite Ayat al-Kursi after Fajr prayer. This extends protection over you and what you care about until evening. Pair it with the morning adhkar from how to do morning adhkar for comprehensive coverage.
When entering home: Say the home-entry dua every single time you walk through your door. Make it as automatic as removing your shoes. The Prophet (peace be upon him) specifically instructed mentioning Allah's name upon entering โ this is your spiritual lock on the home's environment.
Recite Surah Al-Baqarah regularly: Play a recitation in the home, recite it yourself, or complete it in segments across the week. This is among the most powerful means of protecting the home spiritually. You can complete it in increments โ a few pages after Fajr and Maghrib โ rather than in one sitting.
The tawakkul principle: Relying on Allah does not mean being careless with practical precautions. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Tie your camel, then put your trust in Allah" (Tirmidhi 2517). Lock your doors. Secure your valuables. Take reasonable precautions. Then make dua and leave the rest to Allah. The combination of practical responsibility and spiritual reliance is the complete Islamic approach.
When you are worried about something specific: Make a dedicated dua. Be specific with Allah about what you are concerned about โ your home while you travel, your car parked in an unfamiliar area, your savings during economic uncertainty. Allah hears specific requests as well as general ones.

Common Questions
Does making dua for protection mean I should not lock my doors?
Not at all. The famous hadith about tying the camel makes this clear: practical precautions are themselves part of tawakkul, not a contradiction of it. Taking reasonable steps to secure your property and then relying on Allah is the balanced approach. Neglecting precautions while expecting divine protection is not tawakkul โ it is negligence.
Is it permissible to install security cameras in my home for protection?
Yes. Security systems, locks, cameras, and other practical precautions are all permissible and encouraged as means of protecting what Allah has entrusted to you. The only restriction is that cameras should not be placed where they could violate the privacy of family members or neighbors in ways that are inappropriate.
What about home insurance โ is that halal?
This is a topic of scholarly discussion. Many scholars distinguish between conventional insurance (which may involve elements of riba and gharar) and Islamic insurance models (takaful). For a detailed ruling on your specific situation, consult a scholar. The general principle is that protecting your property through permissible means is encouraged.
Can I make dua for protection of property I am unsure is entirely from halal earnings?
Yes โ making dua and seeking to purify your income by avoiding haram sources are both encouraged and can happen simultaneously. If you have concerns about the source of your wealth, prioritize the steps of purification โ give to charity, avoid riba, seek halal income โ while also making dua for Allah's blessing and protection on what you have.
Closing
Your home, your car, your savings โ these are not just possessions. They are means through which Allah provides for you and your family, tools for fulfilling your responsibilities, and trusts that will be accounted for. Protecting them begins with gratitude: recognizing that what you have is from Allah, and that protection itself is from Him.
The dua for protection of property is woven into your daily routine: when you enter your home, when you leave, when you sit after Fajr, when you notice a worry stirring about something you value. Build these habits, and you build a household that is actively seeking Allah's protection every single day.
Tie your camel. Then trust Allah. That is the complete practice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a specific dua for protecting property in Islam?
Yes. When entering your home, say the dua of entry and mention Allah's name โ this prevents Shaytan from entering and protects the household. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also taught that reciting Surah Al-Baqarah in the home prevents Shaytan from entering (Sahih Muslim 780). Ayat al-Kursi recited each morning and evening is a comprehensive protection.
What dua protects the home from theft and harm?
The general protection duas โ Ayat al-Kursi, the morning and evening adhkar, and the dua when entering the home โ provide comprehensive spiritual protection. Additionally, saying Bismillah when entering and ensuring your home practices include regular Quran recitation are the established Islamic means of home protection.
Can I make dua for protection of my car, business, and other property?
Yes. The principle of _tawakkul_ (reliance on Allah) combined with taking practical precautions applies to all property. Make dua when leaving your vehicle, when starting your business day, and when concerned about specific belongings. The dua for travel (when taking a journey with your vehicle) and duas of leaving the home apply.
Is it permissible to use security systems alongside making dua for protection?
Absolutely. Taking practical precautions (locks, cameras, insurance where permissible) is itself an Islamic obligation โ tawakkul does not mean neglecting practical measures. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Tie your camel, then put your trust in Allah' (Tirmidhi 2517). Dua and practical protection work together.
What should I do if my property is stolen? Is there a dua for that?
If something is lost or stolen, say: 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' โ Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Then make dua for its recovery or for Allah to replace it with something better. The dua for a lost item โ 'Allahumma radd dhallati' โ may also be relevant.
