Dua for Protection from Fitna: Shield Yourself Daily

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabil-qabri wa min 'adhabin-nari wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamati wa min sharri fitnatil-masihid-dajjal.

"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the punishment of the Fire, from the tribulations of life and death, and from the evil of the tribulation of the False Messiah." — (Sahih Muslim 588)

When to say it: In the final tashahhud of every obligatory prayer, after reciting the standard tashahhud and sending salawat on the Prophet, before making tasleem.

A companion named Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When any one of you completes the final tashahhud, let him seek refuge with Allah from four things." He then recited this dua.

'Afiya — well-being — is understood by scholars to include protection from all fitna, harm, and tribulation. The companion Ibn Umar said: "I heard the Prophet say that he was not given anything better than 'afiya after certainty of faith."
