فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir

"My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You might send down to me."

— (Surah Al-Qasas, 28:24)

Musa did not ask for marriage specifically. He simply acknowledged his need and his poverty before Allah. Within moments, one of the women came back to invite him to meet her father — and his marriage followed.

The scholars note that this dua is powerful for marriage precisely because it:

1. Comes after doing a selfless good deed (doing something for others while you are in need)
2. Acknowledges total dependence on Allah without specifying the solution
3. Reflects complete trust in whatever Allah sends

Recite it 100 times a day, or after every salah. And before reciting it, do a good deed — give sadaqah, help someone, do something for others while you yourself are in need.

Combining Surah Recitation With Practical Effort

Quran recitation and practical effort must go together. The Prophet ﷺ did not teach that dua replaces asbab (taking real-world steps).

For marriage, practical effort means:

• Telling people you trust that you are looking
• Attending halal social contexts where you may meet potential partners

The Prophet ﷺ said that dua is never wasted — either Allah gives you what you asked for, deflects a harm equal to it, or reserves the reward for the Hereafter. Continue making dua.
