In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

You watch the news. You read the posts. You feel the weight of it โ that heaviness that sits in your chest when you witness suffering you cannot stop with your own hands.
That weight is gheerah. It is the God-given instinct that tells you something is wrong and that you are connected to those who are suffering. It is a sign of iman, not weakness.
The question is what you do with it. Grief without direction becomes despair. But grief channeled into sincere, consistent dua becomes one of the most powerful weapons a believer carries.
The Duas
The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us to pray for one another โ and the scholars of this ummah have always prayed for the oppressed. Here are the authentic duas to say for Palestine and for Muslims everywhere who are suffering.
Dua for victory for the oppressed:
ุงููููููู ูู ุงููุตูุฑู ุฅูุฎูููุงููููุง ุงููู ูุณูููู ูููู ููู ููููุณูุทูููู ููููู ููููู ู ูููุงูู
Allahumma unSur ikhwanana al-muslimeen fi Filastin wa fi kulli makan.
"O Allah, grant victory to our brothers and sisters in Palestine and in every place."
The dua of the Quran for those under oppression (Quran 2:250):
ุฑูุจููููุง ุฃูููุฑูุบู ุนูููููููุง ุตูุจูุฑูุง ููุซูุจููุชู ุฃูููุฏูุงู ูููุง ููุงูุตูุฑูููุง ุนูููู ุงููููููู ู ุงููููุงููุฑูููู
Rabbana afrigh alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna alal-qawmil kafireen.
"Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people." โ (Quran 2:250)
This was the dua of the soldiers of Talut โ a small group facing a vastly larger force. They knew the outcome was with Allah, not with their numbers. It is the dua of those who fight with trust rather than odds.
Dua for the relief of the oppressed:
ุงููููููู ูู ุฃูููุชู ุนูุถูุฏูู ููุฃูููุชู ููุตููุฑููุ ุจููู ุฃูุญูููู ููุจููู ุฃูุตูููู ููุจููู ุฃูููุงุชููู
Allahumma anta 'adudi wa anta nasiri, bika ahulu wa bika asulu wa bika uqatil.
"O Allah, You are my strength and You are my helper. With You I maneuver and with You I attack and with You I fight." โ (Abu Dawud 2632)
The Story Behind It
Allah tells us in the Quran:
"And what is the matter with you that you do not fight in the cause of Allah and for the oppressed among men, women, and children who say: Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?" โ (Quran 4:75)
This verse mentions the dua of the mustad'afeen โ the weakened and oppressed โ who call out to Allah for a protector and a helper. Allah is quoting their dua back to the believers as a reason to act. Their supplication is preserved in the Quran.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) made something else clear:
ุฏูุนูููุฉู ุงููู ูุธููููู ู ููููุณู ุจูููููููุง ููุจููููู ุงูููููู ุญูุฌูุงุจู
"The supplication of the oppressed โ there is no veil between it and Allah." โ (Bukhari 1496)
No veil. No barrier. Direct access to Allah's throne. The dua of those who suffer goes straight through. And when you make dua for them, you join your voice to theirs. You amplify what already has no veil.
How to Make This Dua Part of Your Daily Life
The danger with dua for Palestine is that it becomes a crisis reaction โ you feel something watching the news, you pray once intensely, then life resumes and the dua disappears. That is not how the Prophet prayed for the ummah.
Make it a structured habit:
- After every Fajr prayer, before you put your phone away, say the duas above. Every day.
- In every qunoot if you pray Witr โ ask for the oppressed by name
- On Fridays, take a few minutes before Maghrib specifically for dua for the ummah
- In every sujood โ the Prophet said: "The closest a servant is to his Lord is while in prostration, so make much dua" (Muslim 482)
Understand what consistent dua does to you:
When you pray for the people of Palestine every day, something happens to your heart. You cannot make dua for someone daily and stay disconnected from them. The consistent prayer keeps your gheerah alive. It prevents the nafs from normalizing what should never feel normal. It keeps your heart soft when the world wants it to harden.
Pair dua with action:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
ู ููู ุฑูุฃูู ู ูููููู ู ู ูููููุฑูุง ููููููุบููููุฑููู ุจูููุฏูููุ ููุฅููู ููู ู ููุณูุชูุทูุนู ููุจูููุณูุงููููุ ููุฅููู ููู ู ููุณูุชูุทูุนู ููุจูููููุจููู ููุฐููููู ุฃูุถูุนููู ุงูุฅููู ูุงูู
"Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot, then with his tongue. If he cannot, then with his heart โ and that is the weakest of faith." โ (Sahih Muslim 49)
Dua is the heart level. But if you can do more โ give charity to verified organizations, speak truth in your circles, reduce consumption that funds oppression โ then do so. Dua supports action. It does not replace it.

Common Questions
Is it enough to just make dua?
Dua is the minimum required of every Muslim โ it is the heart level of responding to oppression. But if you have the ability to do more, Allah expects more. Give sadaqah. Speak truth. Stay informed. Use your platform. The Prophet did not say the heart level was sufficient for those who could reach for their hands or tongues.
Why does Allah allow this to happen if He answers dua?
This is one of the deepest questions of iman and it deserves more than a quick answer. What we know is that Allah's wisdom exceeds our sight. We know that the shaheed (martyr) has one of the highest stations in Jannah. We know that this world is a test โ for the oppressed in patience and for the observers in what they do with their resources and their voice. The tragedy is real. Our dua is real. Allah's plan encompasses both.
Does making dua for non-Muslims who are being oppressed count?
Yes. Dua for any oppressed person is an act of mercy, and Allah loves mercy. You can make dua for the safety of anyone facing injustice. Many scholars also note that non-Muslims suffering alongside Muslims in Palestine are also deserving of prayers for relief and justice.
Closing
Your dua matters. Not as a performance of your politics, not as an algorithm post. It matters because you are a Muslim who believes that the Lord of this universe hears every word โ and that the dua of the oppressed reaches Him without a veil.
Say the duas. Say them daily. Keep your heart in this, even when the world moves on. And do whatever is in your power beyond that.
The people of Palestine have made their dua. Make yours.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the dua for Palestine?
One of the most powerful duas for oppressed Muslims is: Allahumma unSur ikhwanana al-muslimeen fi Filastin wa fi kulli makan โ O Allah, grant victory to our brothers and sisters in Palestine and in every place. Combine this with the Quranic dua: Rabbana afrigh alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna alal-qawmil kafireen (Quran 2:250).
When should I make dua for Palestine?
The best times are in the last third of the night, in sujood during salah, after every fard prayer, and on Fridays before Maghrib. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said the dua of the oppressed is not rejected โ making it during these peak times amplifies its power.
Is there a specific hadith about making dua for other Muslims?
Yes. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The dua of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. An angel says: Ameen, and the same for you. (Sahih Muslim 2733). Dua for your brothers and sisters in Palestine earns you a mirror blessing.
Does dua for Palestine actually help?
Yes โ on two levels. Spiritually, the Prophet taught that dua changes what has been decreed (Tirmidhi 3548) and that the dua of the oppressed is accepted without veil (Bukhari 1496). Practically, a heart that consistently makes dua for the oppressed is a heart that stays connected โ and connected hearts take action, give charity, and speak truth.
What else can I do besides making dua?
Dua is not a substitute for action โ it is the foundation of it. Alongside dua: give sadaqah to verified relief organizations, stay informed through trustworthy sources, speak the truth, boycott what you can, and fast โ the Prophet linked fasting with spiritual strength and answered prayers.
