Is Praying With Makeup On Haram? What Every Muslim Woman Should Know

• If the product is so thick that water rolls off without reaching the skin, treat it as a barrier

Most foundations, blushes, and powders pass this test without difficulty. Heavily applied full-coverage or theatrical foundations may not.

2. Note the Face-Washing Area vs Non-Washing Areas

The obligatory wudu washing covers:

• The face: from hairline to chin, ear to ear
• The hands and forearms: to the elbow
• The head: wiped (not washed) — a light wipe counts
• The feet: to the ankles

This means:

• Eye makeup (mascara, liner, shadow): The eyes themselves are not washed in wudu. The face is washed around them. Eyelid area is included in face washing. Most eye makeup does not prevent face-washing from being valid.
