In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

You are working hard. You are doing the right things. And still, provision feels like it is just out of reach. The job, the business, the savings โ you are giving it your best, and you wonder why the doors have not opened wider.
This is where rizq becomes more than an Islamic concept. It becomes your lifeline.
Rizq is every form of provision Allah sends your way: money, food, health, relationships, knowledge, peace of mind. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) left us specific duas to ask Ar-Razzaq โ the Provider โ for it. These prayers are not a replacement for effort. They are what turn your effort into barakah.
The Dua
The Prophet (peace be upon him) made this dua every morning after Fajr:
ุงููููููู ูู ุฅููููู ุฃูุณูุฃููููู ุนูููู ูุง ููุงููุนูุงุ ููุฑูุฒูููุง ุทููููุจูุงุ ููุนูู ูููุง ู ูุชูููุจููููุง
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
"O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds." โ (Ibn Majah 925)
When to say it: After Fajr, every single morning. The Prophet was consistent about this, which tells you everything about its importance.
What makes this dua powerful: It does not just ask for more. It asks for provision that is tayyib โ pure, good, and blessed. A little rizq with barakah in it is worth more than a mountain of wealth with no blessing.
The Quranic promise for those who trust Allah:
ููู ูู ููุชูููู ุงูููููู ููุฌูุนูู ููููู ู ูุฎูุฑูุฌูุงุ ููููุฑูุฒููููู ู ููู ุญูููุซู ููุง ููุญูุชูุณูุจู
Wa man yattaqillaha yaj'al lahu makhraja, wa yarzuqhu min haythu la yahtasib.
"Whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect." โ (Quran 65:2-3)
This verse is a direct promise from Allah. The condition is taqwa โ consciousness of Him. The reward is provision from sources you never planned for.
The Story Behind It
The connection between istighfar and rizq goes back to one of the oldest prophets. Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) preached to his people for 950 years. He wanted to turn them back to Allah โ and one of his most powerful arguments was practical.
He told them that seeking forgiveness would open the skies for them:
ููููููุชู ุงุณูุชูุบูููุฑููุง ุฑูุจููููู ู ุฅูููููู ููุงูู ุบููููุงุฑูุงุ ููุฑูุณููู ุงูุณููู ูุงุกู ุนูููููููู ู ููุฏูุฑูุงุฑูุงุ ููููู ูุฏูุฏูููู ุจูุฃูู ูููุงูู ููุจูููููู
"And I said: Ask forgiveness of your Lord โ indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send rain upon you in continuing showers, and give you increase in wealth and children." โ (Quran 71:10-12)
The scholars explain this beautifully: sin is a barrier between you and your provision. Not because Allah is punishing you vindictively, but because disobedience disconnects you from the source. Istighfar removes that barrier. It clears the channel so that rizq can flow through.
This is why many people report that their rizq opened up during Ramadan, or after making sincere tawbah. It is not coincidence. It is the mechanism that Nuh described 950 years ago.
How to Make This Dua Part of Your Daily Life
Most people only think about dua for rizq when they are desperate โ when the bill arrives, when the deal falls through, when they are counting what is left. That is understandable, but it is backwards.
The Prophet made his dua for provision every morning after Fajr โ before the day started, before the problems arrived. He was not reacting to scarcity. He was setting the spiritual frame for the day.
Build a Fajr ritual around rizq:
- Pray Fajr on time โ this alone has more effect on your provision than most people realize
- After your post-prayer adhkar, say the dua from Ibn Majah 925 three times
- Follow it with ten repetitions of Astaghfirullah โ remember what Nuh told his people
- Take one minute in sujood to ask Allah specifically for what you need
During the day:
- When you start any work, say Bismillah โ this invites barakah into what you are doing
- When you receive any provision, say Alhamdulillah โ gratitude is itself a form of provision protection
- Read the verse from Surah At-Talaq (65:2-3) when anxiety about money hits โ it is a reset button for your tawakkul
What tawakkul actually looks like:
Tawakkul is not passive. It is not sitting at home and waiting for Allah to drop money through the ceiling. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Tie your camel, then put your trust in Allah" (Tirmidhi 2517). You do everything in your power โ then you let go and trust the result to Ar-Razzaq. Dua is what connects those two halves.
Weekly practice:
- On Fridays, make a specific dua for your rizq in the last hour before Maghrib โ this is one of the most powerful hours of the week
- Fast regularly, especially on Mondays and Thursdays โ the connection between fasting and barakah in provision is real
- Give even small amounts of charity consistently โ the Prophet said charity does not decrease wealth (Sahih Muslim 2588)

The mindset shift:
Most people treat dua for rizq as a transaction. They want to say the right words and receive the result. But the Prophet's approach was different โ he made this dua every morning as an act of acknowledging who the real Provider is. When you do that consistently, something shifts. You work harder because you trust the outcome is in better hands than yours. You worry less because you know Ar-Razzaq sees your effort and does not let it go to waste.

Common Questions
Does making dua for rizq mean I should stop working hard?
The opposite. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah loves that when any of you does a deed, he does it with itqan โ excellence and precision" ([Bayhaqi]). Dua for rizq is the spiritual fuel for your effort, not a reason to reduce it. Ar-Razzaq provides through causes โ your work is one of those causes. Dua asks Him to bless the work and to send provision from directions you could not create yourself.
What if I have been making dua for rizq for years and nothing has changed?
First, consider whether there is anything blocking your provision โ unpaid debts, haram income mixed in, unrepaired family ties (the Prophet linked these to provision). Then examine your consistency: is the dua daily and sincere, or occasional and rushed? Finally, remember that Allah may be withholding something to give you something better, or storing the reward for the hereafter. Keep making the dua. Keep doing the work. Trust the timeline to the One who controls time.
Is there a specific number of times to say the dua?
There is no fixed number prescribed in the authentic narrations for most rizq duas. What the sunnah emphasizes is regularity and sincerity over volume. The Prophet made the Fajr dua daily โ not a hundred times on one occasion and then none. Daily is more powerful than occasional.
Can I make this dua in English?
Yes. Dua can be made in any language. The Arabic is worth learning because it is the language of the Quran and the Prophet, and saying the exact words he said carries its own barakah. But if you do not know Arabic yet, making heartfelt dua in your own language is completely valid. Allah understands every tongue.
Does charity really affect rizq?
Yes, and this is not just spiritual advice โ it is a prophetic promise. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Charity does not decrease wealth" (Sahih Muslim 2588). This is understood to mean that Allah replaces it and adds barakah. Many Muslims report that their rizq opened up when they committed to giving regularly, even when money was tight. It is a test of tawakkul โ and Allah does not let that test go unrewarded.
Closing
You are not just a worker trying to make ends meet. You are a Muslim who has access to the One who controls every grain of provision on this earth. Ar-Razzaq โ the Provider โ has never run short of supply. His giving does not diminish Him. What He withholds, He withholds with wisdom. What He sends, He sends with love.
Your job is to make the dua, do the work, and keep your heart connected to the One who provides. Start this morning, after Fajr, with three sincere repetitions. Say the words the Prophet said. Mean them. Then go do your work with the calm of someone who knows their Provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best dua for rizq in Islam?
One of the most comprehensive duas for rizq comes from Ibn Majah 925: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan โ O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said this every morning after Fajr.
Does making istighfar increase rizq?
Yes, and this is directly from the Quran. Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) told his people: Ask forgiveness of your Lord โ indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send rain upon you in continuing showers, and give you increase in wealth and children (Quran 71:10-12). Scholars explain that istighfar removes the spiritual blockages that hold back provision. Make it a daily habit.
What Quran verse is about rizq from unexpected sources?
Surah At-Talaq 65:2-3 states: Whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah โ then He is sufficient for him. This verse is the foundation of tawakkul โ the understanding that taqwa and trust in Allah are themselves a form of provision management.
Can I make dua for rizq for someone else?
Yes, and making dua for another person is one of the most selfless acts in Islam. The angels say Ameen and ask the same for you in return. You can make dua for the rizq of your parents, spouse, siblings, or anyone who is struggling. Include them by name in your supplication.
When is the best time to make dua for rizq?
The best times are after Fajr salah (which the Prophet specifically used for this dua), during the last third of the night, in sujood, between adhan and iqamah, and on Fridays before Maghrib. Consistency matters more than any single perfect moment โ a short daily dua after Fajr will do more for your rizq than an occasional long session.
