The Prophet (peace be upon him) made this dua every morning after Fajr:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

"O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds." — (Ibn Majah 925)

When to say it: After Fajr, every single morning. The Prophet was consistent about this, which tells you everything about its importance.

What makes this dua powerful: It does not just ask for more. It asks for provision that is tayyib — pure, good, and blessed. A little rizq with barakah in it is worth more than a mountain of wealth with no blessing.

The connection between istighfar and rizq goes back to one of the oldest prophets. Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) preached to his people for 950 years. He wanted to turn them back to Allah — and one of his most powerful arguments was practical.

He told them that seeking forgiveness would open the skies for them:

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا، يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا، وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ

The scholars explain this beautifully: sin is a barrier between you and your provision. Not because Allah is punishing you vindictively, but because disobedience disconnects you from the source. Istighfar removes that barrier. It clears the channel so that rizq can flow through.

Can I make this dua in English?

Yes. Dua can be made in any language. The Arabic is worth learning because it is the language of the Quran and the Prophet, and saying the exact words he said carries its own barakah. But if you do not know Arabic yet, making heartfelt dua in your own language is completely valid. Allah understands every tongue.
