The following verse explains why: "Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?" (Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:91)

Step 3: Replace the habit, not just the time. The pull of sports betting is partly about the game, the excitement, the engagement. Channel that into: watching the game without a stake, joining a prediction league with no financial element, or getting more active in a sport yourself.
